Kamchatka trekking

Kamchatka is the land of volcanoes, that’s why the main idea of trekking there is some kind of “volcanic adventure”, which means – climbing volcanoes, crossing volcanic landscapes, approaching volcanic activity, etc. All volcanoes included in our trekking program are active, with recent explosions more or less powerful, and all are really different – ash cones of Tolbachik, stiffed lava flow on the top of Avachinsky, numerous fumaroles, jets, mud pots into the crater of Mutnovsky. The best trekking season is July-September. The central part of Kamchatka has continental climate, and the summer is warmer and longer than on the south, where, due to influence of the Pacific and the Okhotskoe sea, the weather is usually colder and wetter. Even in the beginning of July a few parts of plateau around Mutnovsky and Gorely volcanoes on the south Kamchatka are completely covered with thick layer of pressed snow. In the mid-October slopes of volcanoes are already covered with fresh snow again. Trying to catch a short summer, and due to volcanic soil reach in minerals any vegetation on Kamchatka grows extremely quick. During the whole season rivers are abundant with spawning salmon.

In September, the average days’ temperatures are hardly more than +15. Strong wind on the slopes of volcanoes is very often available.

But it’s worth efforts! Welcome to enjoy this strange place with us!
